The Newton Township Division of Fire & EMS is committed to making this website usable by every member of the community, regardless of ability or technology. This statement explains the standards the site is built to, how we test against them, and how to get help if something on the site does not work for you.

Conformance target

This site is built to conform with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the standard that U.S. Department of Justice rules under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act require for state and local government web content.

How we test

We test for accessibility during development, not as an afterthought. Before changes ship, the site is reviewed by keyboard alone, with a screen reader, and against the WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criteria directly. The site is built with semantic HTML, a visible skip link, visible keyboard focus indicators, and support for reduced-motion preferences.
